Phillip KloecknerArtistic Director

Phillip Kloeckner is currently in his seventh season as artistic director of the United Nations Association International Choir. During his tenure, the ensemble has seen significant growth and increasing diversity in every respect. Under his leadership the choir has established its place in the Houston Cultural landscape, in part, by presenting premieres and rivivals of numerous works unavailable elsewhere.

In addition to offering standard choral repertoire, Dr. Kloecker has led the choir in the Houston premiere of César Franck’s Seven Last Words, the North American premiere of nineteenth-century Peruvian composer Melchor Tapia’s St. Luke Passion, and in original works by choir members. For the choirs tenth anniversary he commissioned a work titled That the Dove May Rest by Jan Gilbert an internationally recognized composer who works center on myth as a common bond between cultures. Dr. Kloeckner has established an envivable record of collaboration with soloists and ensembles from a wide array of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
